I'm Grieving Button

Whether you or a loved one is experiencing active grief, this “I’m Grieving” button might bring just a little bit of solace. It allows you to express your grief without saying a word.

Designed by Cole Imperi, the “I’m Grieving” button is historically informed but adapted for a modern context. Grievers can choose to wear one on days they want to talk about their loss and can choose to leave it at home on days when they don’t.

You might be looking for something meaningful to give to someone who is grieving, or your funeral home might want to give something extra to each of your families. These buttons are in use across the US and Canada by funeral homes, hospitals and hospices, and across the world by grievers everywhere. Many Death Companions keep their supply kits stocked with these buttons.

The button is 1.25” in diameter and reads “Be Kind. Be Gentle. I’m Grieving.”

COLORS
The button is black and lilac….black is the traditionally understood color of mourning in much of the world. Did you know lilac is too? Lilac (or mauve-type tones) were the first acceptable color one could wear when in the transition period between ‘full mourning’ and ‘regular life.’ This button was designed with a nod to tradition in mind.
