Deathwork Enamel Pin

$18.00

You are a deathworker if you work with death, dying, grief or loss in some way—professionally or personally. The symbol for deathwork, called a Doth, represents the duality and tension within deathwork. It represents both art and science, logic and creativity, and the head and the heart. These dualities are required to help deathworkers effectively meet people where they are, and to nurture a healthy relationship within themselves. The color lilac has a historical connection to mourning practices and represents a life lived fully—which recognizes loss as valuable.

Wear this on your bag, your lapel, your sweatshirt, your guitar strap to remind yourself of what you do as a deathworker, and for who you do it.

The Doth is a trademark of the School of American Thanatology.

The enamel pin is .5” wide and .4” tall.

The tin the pin comes in is a screw top and is 1.4” in diameter, and .65” tall.

The deathwork sticker is made of scratch resistant, weather safe vinyl and is 3” wide by 2” tall.

This package comes with:

  • a metallic silver bag with drawstring closure (4” wide by 4.75” tall)

  • a screw-top tin

  • an enamel pin (cast by a family-owned business in Texas)

  • a vinyl sticker

  • an informational card detailing the meaning of the deathwork symbol
